Passion, Enthusiasm & Adaptability

Updated: May 14

Simply put -- a "where there's a will, there's a way" attitude!

Leaders make things happen though:

  •      Innovation & drive towards goals

  •      Foster learning & continuous improvement

Adaptability in career planning is key. For example, I began a career in corporate marketing, but when I began working in the high-tech industry, I expanded by focus to include go-to-market strategy & alliance management.

This same attitude helped me realize dream of horse ownership & competing at a national level. My enthusiasm gave me the confidence to compete even when I couldn't afford a trainer, the best horse or equipment.

Similarly in business, a key to success is optimizing what you have by adapting goals & planning to tools and resources available at the time. Leaders will almost never have all the resources or budget they want.

But strong leaders are creative and optimize the people and tools they have. For example, today's applications enable a wide variety of in-house production which is a great alternative when you don't have the budget for external marketing agencies.

Effective leaders make sure projects are prioritized and that stakeholder expectations align with available resources. Sometimes changing the scope of certain projects is necessary.

Being passionate, enthusiastic and adaptable doesn't mean saying "yes" to everything -- sometimes "no" or "not now" is the appropriate answer. The goal is to foster an environment for healthy discussions about business priorities.

My lifelong partnership and journey with horses is the inspiration for “Straight from the Horse’s Mouth”. Lessons from the stable to the workplace.

Let's hear your thoughts on being passionate, enthusiastic and adaptable.
